Sarmiento are second from bottom in Group B going into matchday 10. They have taken 10 points from 27 on offer in Group B thus far. The team is blowing hot and cold this season. Sarmiento took just seven points from the last 18 on offer in the division.
Lanus have taken 13 points from the last 18 available to them. Goals were conceded with nine allowed and 11 scored. Lanus have to stop allowing so many goals if they are to win Group B. Lanus are on a two-match winning streak having beaten Gimnasia and Aldosivi.
These teams met earlier this season in the Copa de la Liga. Sarmiento claimed a 1-0 win thanks to a penalty goal from Jonathan Torres. Prior to the loss in the cup, the teams had not met since 2016-17 with Lanus claiming a 2-1 victory.
Jose Sand leads Lanus in goals with nine goals in nine games. Sand is 41-years-old, but still scoring goals at a high level for Lanus. Jose Lopez has bagged five goals in nine appearances. Manager Zubeldia could select the duo to start.
Sarmiento is in the Argentine top flight for the first time since 2016-17. It is bound to be a difficult season for the visitors. Goals have been difficult to come by for Sarmiento this term. They have scored eight times while conceding eight goals. Sarmiento have allowed the second-most goals in Group B.
Torres and Luciano Gondou lead the Sarmiento team in goals scored with two apiece. Torres scored the team’s penalty goal when these sides met in the Copa de la Liga earlier this season.
Lanus are in good form despite conceding the most goals in Group B. Lanus should claim a fifth win in 10 matches in the Argentine top flight this weekend against Sarmiento.
Lanus have been quality in front of goal and Saturday’s match should finish with over 2.5 goals and both teams finding the back of the net. Three of Lanus’s last four games finished with both teams scoring and over 2.5 goals scored.
