This has been a preseason like no other for Barcelona and they must try and put that behind them as they welcome Real Sociedad to the Camp Nou on Sunday afternoon.
Barcelona finished in third place last season, 7 points adrift of the eventual title winners Atletico Madrid while Real Sociedad ended the campaign in fifth place and qualified for the group stage of the Europa League.

Barcelona have been in turmoil this summer and it has culminated with the departure of club legend, Lionel Messi, to Paris Saint-Germain. It is a huge blow for the club and Barcelona have been left without their star man a week before the season begins. The Catalans are in big trouble financially and at the time of writing, it remains to be seen which players will be available to Ronald Koeman for the match.
Barcelona played their final preseason fixture against Juventus in the Joan Gamper Trophy last week and came away with a good 3-0 win. Memphis Depay opened the scoring after only two minutes of the game and the additional goals were scored by Martin Braithwaite and Riqui Puig.
Trends show Barcelona are unbeaten in 25 of their 28 most recent matches in La Liga but have failed to win any of their last 3 at home. They generally have little trouble when it comes to scoring goals but have conceded 2 goals in 3 of their last 4 home league games.
Real Sociedad have had a mixed bag of results in preseason and they have defeated Alaves, Monaco, and Eibar. However, there have been two defeats and they have come recently against AZ and Osasuna.
Real Sociedad ended last season with 3 wins from their final 4 fixtures, with one of those victories coming away from home against Osasuna. However, their recent away record in La Liga is poor and Real Sociedad have won only 2 of their last 7 and 3 of their last 10 away league games. Scoring goals has not been an issue and Real Sociedad have found the back of the net in 11 of their last 13 away La Liga fixtures
Defensively things have not been as good and Real Sociedad have kept only 3 clean sheets in their last 10 away La Liga games.
Team news and Barcelona will be lining up with Lionel Messi, which will seem strange. At this time, it is difficult to predict who will be in the Barcelona team but Sergio Aguero, Ousmane Dembele, Frenkie De Jong, Marc-André ter Stegen and Clement Lenglet are injured. Memphis Depay may not be able to play due to the salary cap issues.
Real Sociedad are expected to be without the injured trio of Nacho Monreal, Carlos Fernández, and Matthew Ryan.
It will be interesting to see the crowds reaction as Barcelona take to the field this weekend. They are going to be up against it considering everything that has happened off the pitch this week but Barcelona have a great recent record against Real Sociedad. It is going to be a tough game but Barcelona could come out on top, with both teams scoring.
