Getafe have at times punched above their financial weight in La Liga in recent seasons under former head coach Jose Bordalas. However, Bordalas has now moved on to Valencia and successor Michel has yet to get the Madrid-based outfit going.
In fact, the Azulones have lost all three of their opening matches in La Liga against Valencia, Sevilla and Barcelona. It can be said that the home side was handed a tough early-season schedule and will likely have targeted this game as one to take maximum points from.
Getafe have struggled for any sort of home form of late in the Spanish top-flight, having won just one of their last seven matches at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez. One of their main obstacles to picking up home points recently has been a lack of goals, as they have failed to score in four of their last five home matches in the Spanish top-flight.
Elche narrowly escaped relegation from La Liga last season following promotion in the previous campaign. Judging by their opening three results of the season, it may well be another difficult season for Fran Escriba and his team.
The visitors have failed to win any of their first three league matches of the season. They have picked up draws against Athletic Bilbao and Sevilla while suffering defeat against Atletico Madrid.
Like the home team, the early fixtures were tough ones. Elche may feel that they can now push on from here after those difficult opening games.
The visitors have been poor on their travels of late in La Liga, winning just one of their last 18 away games in the Spanish top-flight.
PlusBet.net predicts that these two teams will remain winless in the top-flight for another gameweek, with this clash finishing in a draw.
