Leganes are second from bottom going into matchday 5 with just two points from 12 available. A win against Sporting Gijon would lift Leganes out of the relegation zone for at least 24 hours. Leganes are coming off a 1-1 draw against Eibar on matchday 4.

Sporting Gijon claimed a 2-1 win on matchday 4 to keep their excellent form going. Manager David Gallego is in his second season at Sporting Gijon. The former Espanyol coach is in his biggest role as a manager. So far, Sporting Gijon are excelling in 2021-22 this season.

The Los Rojiblancos are a perfect six points from six on offer at home. Sporting Gijon claimed a 1-0 win over Burgos and a 2-1 victory over Mirandes. Leganes picked up one point from their opening six available. Leganes fell 1-0 to Real Sociedad B and drew 1-1 with Eibar.

Last season, Sporting Gijon and Leganes drew both fixtures. The first fixture at the Estadio El Molinón finished 1-1.

Sporting Gijon opened the scoring in the 86th minute thanks to a goal from Uros Djurdjevic, but Leganes equalised from the penalty spot in the 90th minute thanks to Borja Baston. The teams’ return fixture finished nil-nil.

Leganes manager Asier Garitano has no fresh injuries going into the game. He will be hoping the side can get goals and improve on the team’s two goals scored tally. Three of Leganes’ four games in the Segunda 2021-22 season ended with under 2.5 goals scored.

Sporting Gijon have seen two of their four games end with over 2.5 goals scored and two of their four games finished with both teams not scoring goals. Gallego has no fresh injuries going into the game and will have a full-strength squad.

Gallego’s team has scored five goals this season and each goal has come from a different player. Djurdjevic has scored one goal this season and bagged a goal versus Leganes last term.

Sporting Gijon are playing well while Leganes are struggling for points. Los Rojiblancos should claim a win at full-time as Leganes fail to score goals once more. Sporting Gijon should claim a win to nil and remain the pacesetters of the Segunda.
